Tiffany Garden

Tiffany & Co. have done it again... We have fallen head over heels for the new Tiffany Garden Collection. The soft, subtle colours and sweetly whimsical designs are just gorgeous, highlighting Spring's ritual of renewal in a garden blooming with fresh buds, dragonflies, butterflies and bees...

Tiffany Garden is based on diamond floral brooches created by legendary jewelry designer Paulding Farnham (1859-1927), whose vision of American design was shaped by the landscape’s untamed beauty. Trained in botanic illustration Farnham was chief designer of Tiffany’s exhibits that won gold medals at the great world expositions in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These awards established Tiffany & Co. as the undisputed leader in the world of jewels.

Tiffany Garden reflects this legacy with pear-shaped colored gemstones such as amethysts and diamonds in the traditional rose cut, an early faceting style that resembles the petals of a budding rose, and round brilliant cut. Together the brilliant stones capture spring’s fresh exuberance in dazzling blossoms, in a garden path’s sparkling cobblestones, and in the fluttering wings of a butterfly, bee and dragonfly.

These delicate garden scenes, set in platinum and 18 karat rose and yellow gold, highlight the fragility not only of flowers and wildlife, but also the nonrenewable materials that form Tiffany Garden.

Royal Steamline

We have just discovered the offerings from US stationers
Royal Steamline, and know that you will be as excited as we are about these gorgeous and quirky designs! The unique wedding stationery is created by a husband and wife design team based in Portland, Oregon. The wedding invitations have an edgy, dark feel with retro and vintage detailing. Through a subtle combination of shadows, textures and vintage illustrations, Royal Steamline convey a sense of eras strange and forgotten. Sea monsters mingle next to robotic ravens, and gentlemen scientists have tea with rockabilly rebels.

Royal Steamline work with brides and grooms to create invitations from scratch. They also offer a line of readymade, customizable invitations, place cards, programs, table numbers, save-the-date cards and RSVP cards.

Fig. 5 Invitation, Enclosure & RSVP Set (Shown top) - Evoking the beautiful color plates of antique volumes documenting botany and zoology, this subtle design doesn’t overpower; it allows you and your special day to be the focus of the invitation.

Lilium Invitation, Enclosure & RSVP Set - Blending the ambiance of a misty garden with the smoky appointments of an elegant dining car, Lilium is a heady cocktail that celebrates both the quiet and the spirited moments of a brilliant wedding day.'

L’Hôtel Particulier Invitation, Enclosure & RSVP Set - For those whose relationship resembles a fine Beaujolais, there is L’Hôtel Particulier. As cool as Carrera marble on a hot Bastille Day afternoon, this design reminds us of the mystery waiting to be explored with the one you love.

Ten Thousand Miles Invitation, Enclosure & RSVP Set - Weathered by the miles (and maybe a few storms), you and your love have shown that you are dedicated to go the distance. A perfect way to set the tone for your retro/rockabilly affair.

Mecanique Invitation, Enclosure & RSVP Set - Featuring a seal on the reverse that includes your initials and wedding date, Mecanique celebrates both the elegance of the Victorian era and the fantastic inventions of the Steam Age.

1920s Cocktail Real Life Wedding

Mya & Dominic Anlezark • 22nd November, 2008 • 1920s Cocktail • Newacton Pavilion ACT

Mya and Dominic planned to celebrate their wedding in balmy November weather - instead they had to make the most of a frosty cold front invading their wedding! Despite the weather Mya and Dominic had a wonderful day full of love and joy and their superb photographer Dan O'Day captured all the details. Mya shares their day with us...

We chose a November date for our big day, thinking that it would be warm. But it was cold, windy and rainy. There was even a fall of snow on the Brindabellas.

The boys dressed at our home, and we girls got ready at a hotel. At 3:50pm, I had to make the call as to whether our ceremony would be held inside, or outside as we had planned. I decided it would be outside and didn’t regret it. As I started to walk out to the courtyard, gusts of wind dusted everyone in sleet. But as I walked down the path towards Dom, the clouds cleared and the sun came out and stayed out for the whole ceremony. In front of all of our much loved family and friends, we stood together under a huge oak tree and proclaimed our love for each other.

After the ceremony, we went to several different locations for our photo-shoot. Although the weather got worse and worse, we had a ball taking the shots and we are so happy with them.

Meanwhile, back at the reception venue our guests were having a swing dance lesson. When we arrived, we were given a very warm welcome, and champagne, a tapas degustation and much laughter and mingling followed. Heartfelt speeches were made, the cake was cut and we danced our bridal swing. Everyone joined in and we all continued dancing to our fantastic jazz band.

The atmosphere was amazing and the cold weather bought everyone closer. Not exactly as we had planned weather wise, but we would not change it for the world.
