Bringing Your Wedding Home...

We found this great post on Martha Stewart's wedding blog, all about bringing your wedding day style into your new home:

"Brides work so hard on their weddings, from the color palette to the food, it seems a shame to close the book on your ideas when the last reveler leaves the reception. Bringing a design element from your wedding into your registry is something that will look lovely in your home and stir up wonderful memories of your special day. So, inspired by the mint cake in our Winter 2009 issue, I took it upon myself to find tabletop items that echo the same fresh wedding color scheme. Mint green, turquoise, white, and gold are always lovely together, no matter what the design, and these place settings prove that point perfectly."

We love the dinnerware - a perfect match for the Winter wedding theme we featured earlier this week. How are you bringing wedding day elements into your home?

Chic Winter Style...

Ice Palace

Inspired by Kristy Lee's gorgeous Winter Wonderland wedding featured this week, we have created our own take on Winter weddings with an ice inspired extravaganza.

We have chosen cool hues of aqua, spearmint and light teals, with hints of frosty silver to recreate the atmosphere of an ice palace. Keep the colours subtle and pale - washed out tones work best for bridesmaids dress and table settings. Highlight the theme with bold jewellery and silver accents in your accessories. And course, don't forget to carry the theme throughout your stationery and cake!

Winter by Weddingstar

Inspired by the gorgeous Winter Wonderland Real Life Wedding featured this week, we have compiled our favourite Winter wedding products from Weddingstar...

Snowglobes are always a favourite with guests young and old. These new "Mr. & Mrs" snowman globes are so adorable, you can't help but smile! Mini Snowglobes would be a sensation at any winter wedding. These snowglobes do not have to be reserved just for weddings. This cute couple would make a great Christmas Gift as well.

These Miniature Felt Winter Mittens are hand stitched in blue and have a tiny "jingle bell." Combine with the Winter Wonder collection to complete the look.

Frosted glass holders with laser carved snowflakes in a silver interior create a beautiful glow. Ideal for adding instant warmth to winter decor. There is nothing like candle light to set the mood.

Guests are sure to appreciate small favour gifts. Tuck this snowflake shaped wine stopper inside a transparent favour box for a dazzling presentation.

Winter Wonder Collection
With a backdrop of glistening white snow, Winter Weddings can seem truly magical. Our exclusive new Winter Wonder accessory ensemble has been created as a fitting complement. With touchable embossed velvet, an exclusive snowflake that features a glacier blue square cut stone and even mini snowballs, every detail is a beautiful reflection of the wonders of winter.

Winter Wonderland Real Life Wedding

Kristy-Lee & Mitchell Crawford • 21st June, 2008 • Winter wonderland • Thredbo

Kristy-Lee and Mitchell chose a winter wedding in Thredbo - the same place that Mitchell proposed. Intrigue Photography captured the bride and groom celebrating in their Winter Wonderland. Kristy-Lee shares her wedding story with us...

On the wedding morning, I was delighted when my flowers arrived: beautiful, crisp, white tulips and a buttonhole for Mitch. I wore thermal leggings and boots beneath my gown of ice-pink silk and lace, and had a thick white delustred satin cloak with fur-lined hood to wear outside. A platinum ring that had belonged to Mitch’s late grandmother and a 9 carat gold kewpie doll handed down from my grandmother were both sewn onto my garter. Mitch wore a black suit and ice-pink shirt, with cufflinks worn in memory of his late uncle.

Our ceremony was emotional, and nothing will equal the joy of sharing our wedding vows with our closest family, including my two children. After the ceremony, we rode the chairlift to the top of Mount Kosciuszko for photographs. We will always remember the quiet time that we spent together in that gorgeous, rugged Alpine setting, enjoying the serenity at the top of the world.
Lunch was a delightful combination of seared calamari, quail salad and Wagyu beef, followed by individual white mud cakes with berry coulis and cream. We dined in a glass-walled room with magical views of falling snow.

I made our bomboniere: little pink boxes filled with almonds, wrapped in organza and tied off with a silver snowflake. We carried this theme on in our gifts to our guests, which were silver snowflake wine-stoppers.
There was many a glass of good cheer and much hearty laughter. It was exactly what we wanted - great food, great wine and great company.
And to top it off, a romantic honeymoon in sunny Paris, the city of love.

Modern Vintage Real Life Wedding

Valley & Adam Mein • 27th February, 2009 • Modern Vintage • Old Parliament House

You will fall in love with this week’s modern vintage wedding filled with sweet details, coupled with the gorgeous bride and groom – Valley & Adam! Photographer Kelly Tunney has truly captured the occasion.  Valley shares her ‘Bride’s Diary’ with us!

We were blessed with a perfect summer’s day for our wedding. I spent the morning relaxing with my mum and bridesmaids, while Adam enjoyed the time at his parents’ house with his groomsmen.

We decided early in the planning process that the emphasis for the big day was on having fun with our family and friends. As passionate Canberrans, we chose the beautiful Senate Courtyard at Old Parliament House for our ceremony. And in that setting, what better music to accompany me down the aisle then that of a string ensemble – perfect!
Capturing the magic of the day was a priority for us, and we had so much fun with our photographer Kelly Tunney. She made us feel extremely comfortable in front of the camera. We are so happy with our images and have received endless comments on how amazing they are. Kelly really captured the essence of the day.

We were simply blown away by the heartfelt speeches given by our fathers, and by Michael, the best man. Adam also gave an amazing speech, which resulted in both tears and laughter.
Instead of bomboniere, we made a donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation on behalf of our guests. The Foundation provided Jelly Baby pins for us to give to our guests, who promptly donned their pins to show support for the valuable research being done into a health issue that has touched our family.

We had a ball and didn’t want the night to end – it was so much fun!

Autumn Chocolate and Gunmetal Blue

Muted Autumn Tones
Muted Autumn Tones by The Bride's Diary® featuring Milly dresses

Autumn is a great time of year to look for  inspiration for your wedding theme. There is a rich array of colours as the seasons turn. As the trees begin to lose their leaves the deep chocolate browns and softer taupes of the trunks are displayed, set against a muted sky of grey and blue.

A chocolate and gunmetal blue colour scheme lends itself to a sophisticated wedding, with simple understated decorations which allow the colours to shine through and do the work for you.
